MADRID -- Madrid-Waddington third graders pooled together funds to purchase and create Christmas presents for Renewal House this holiday season.
"This year, we had three exceptional students, Kendall Rice, Abigail Froats, and Hope Dykes take our tradition a step further. Inspired by our gifts, these beautiful and caring young ladies designed their own flyers to post around school, in their community, & on social media and set up a Toy Drive," a release from organizers says. “They spread the word quickly and in just four days, the true spirit of giving was abundant! Their boxes were overflowing each day with gifts! They even received a monetary donation all the way from Arizona all of which they proudly presented to Ilene Burke, Executive Director of Renewal House.”
Renewal House is currently the only domestic violence agency in St. Lawrence County and is a certified safe-dwelling provider. Since 1982, Renewal House has been committed to providing support and shelter to victims of domestic violence and their families, in an environment free from coercion, fear, judgment, or duress.
