MADRID -- Madrid-Waddington students are raising money to adopt an elephant. They are trying to bring awareness about poaching and the illegal ivory trade.

The African elephants are dwindling in numbers and may become extinct in the next 15 years. The population - currently 600,000 - is diminishing by 38,000 each year.
