MADRID -- Madrid-Waddington Principal Eric Burke has will replace superintendent Lynn Roy who is set to retire in June.
Burke is the grade six to 12 principal at Madrid-Waddington Central School District.
He has previously worked as the grade 5 to 12 principal at Lisbon Central from 2007 to 2014 and as Ogdensburg Free Academy assistant principal from 2006 to 2007.
Burke’s competition, a middle school principal in Erie County Michael A. Retzlaff, withdrew from consideration in the final round.
Burke’s appointment is effective July 1.
Lynn M. Roy has served as superintendent at MWCS since 2006.
