NORWOOD -- A Madrid-Waddington Central School teacher and Norwood resident is seeking votes to sing the national anthem at the state fair in Syracuse.
Michele Weaver, a middle school math teacher, is vying for one of 12 spots to sing at the annual event which is attended by thousands.
"I have been a singer all my life," she said.
Weaver says she was born and raised in Massena and is a member of the Sweet Adelines which is an international women's barbershop harmony group.
She has received 3,731 votes as of Wednesday morning which puts her in 24th place. The top 12 will have a chance to sing.
