Madrid-Waddington Central School District approves educational foundation to support non-funded educational programs

MADRID -- The Madrid-Waddington Central School District recently approved an educational foundation to support education at the facility.

The foundation enables anyone to support school district programs either through an outright gift or through a will.

Gifts are also welcomed from businesses and organizations. The foundation will operate as a component fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

“North Country schools have always played an integral role in every community. In this time of diminishing state and federal aid for school districts, the Madrid-Waddington Central School Board of Education is proud to develop this partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation as a means for local supporters to ensure that their dollars stay in their community, focused on educational programs that will benefit their students,” said MWCS Superintendent Lynn Roy said.

As the fund grows, it will become an annual resource to provide programs and equipment that might not otherwise be funded through the school’s operational budget.

It will serve to enrich the educational experience for Madrid-Waddington students and be a tool for faculty and staff maximize opportunities for excellence.

Operating as a component fund of the Community Foundation allows donors to receive the maximum tax advantages allowed by law and is the natural setting a wide variety of gift types. The fund also allows flexibility to support specific areas of interest within the District. Those interested in discussing the various option to make a tax-deductible gift in support of the school, can contact the Northern New York Community Foundation at 782-7110.

The Community Foundation also currently administers similar funds for other school districts, including, Hermon-DeKalb, Morristown, St. Lawrence Central and Potsdam.
