Madrid Town Justice convicted of driving drunk denied reinstatement as an attorney by Third Judicial Department

Posted

In January of 2015 Anya A. Mironova Tendler, Madrid, was placed on one year of probation after pleading guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated for having children in her vehicle when she was intoxicated.

Tendler was a Madrid Town Justice at the time of the incident.

On Thursday the Third Judicial Department posted a decision denying Tendler reinstatment to practice as an attorney.

"Respondent's application for reinstatement to the practice of law is deficient and must be denied," the decision says.

According to the document Tendler was admitted by the First Department in 2009 and formerly maintained an office for the practice of law in the Town of Canton, St. Lawrence County.

"In October 2014, respondent pleaded guilty before St. Lawrence County Court to the class E felony of aggravated driving while intoxicated and was placed on interim probation for one year," the decision says.

The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department struck her name from the roll of attorneys due to her plea of guilty to a felony.

In January  St. Lawrence County Court vacated Tendler's felony guilty plea and permitted her to enter a guilty plea to a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

The request for reinstatement was denied after Tendler allegedly failed to offer proof establishing that she has taken and passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination.
