MADRID – A Madrid resident has been charged and jailed for felony sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual contact with a girl under age 11.

St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies have charged Brian A. Newton, 18, of 3734 County Route 14, with first degree sexual abuse, a Class D felony, in connection with the incident that took place earlier this month.

Newton was arraigned in Madrid Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bail bond, deputies said.
