OGDENSBURG -- A Madrid man won first place in the Frederic Remington Museum’s 2015 Members Juried Art Show.
Kasarian Dane submitted “Untitiled,” an oil and acrylic on aluminum he painted in 2006. Second place went to Gary Larsen of Edinburgh for his 2014 infrared photograph “Life on the Dunes.” Third place went to Kari Zelson Robertson of Black River for 2014 ceramic works including a double bowl serving dish, handbuilt low-fire earthenware with terra sigillata and satin glaze.
“We congratulate the winners and all our member artists. We are so very pleased to provide a fitting context in which our members' art can shine. It's such a pleasure to work with such a diversity of artists and of their art. The exhibition provides an excellent reward to these artists for their financial support of the museum,” says museum director Laura A. Foster.
The exhibit, which includes 56 works by 50 artists, is on display at the museum and online at www.fredericremington.org. Many of the works will be for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist.
People can vote for a people’s choice award, which will be given out Sept. 21.
