CANTON -- A Madrid man was charged with introducing contraband to prison and criminal possession of a controlled substance stemming from an incident first reported to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies Dec. 9.
Michael B. Middlemiss, 25, was charged Jan. 17 with first-degree introducing dangerous contraband to prison and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, deputies said.
Middlemiss allegedly was found to be in possession of a white powdery substance while being booked into the St. Lawrence Count Jail on separate charges, officers said.
The white substance later tested positive for cocaine, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released under the supervision of probation to appear in court at a later date, officers said.
