MADRID – A Madrid man was arrested for insurance fraud Saturday for allegedly falsely claiming a nearly $1,000 DVD system had been stolen, according to state police.
State police, assisted by the state Insurance Fraud Bureau, Syracuse, arrested Anthony Sucese, 49, at 9:30 a.m. for Falsifying Business Records first degree (Class E felony), Insurance Fraud fifth degree (Class A misdemeanor), and Making a Punishable False Written Statement (Class A misdemeanor).
Sucese was arrested following the investigation of a burglary complaint he reported to police on April 30.
Police said they determined Sucese had falsely reported that a $949 DVD system was included in property that had been stolen during a burglary. Sucese later filed a fraudulent claim with his insurance company seeking payment for the DVD system, police said.
He is to face the charges in Town of Madrid Court Sept. 13.
