RUSSELL – A Madrid man who allegedly fled the scene in his truck after running over the foot and ankle of another man at 8:30 p.m. Monday has been arrested for assault and other charges, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Thomas W. Olmstead Jr. 31, 944 County Rt. 44, Madrid, has been charged with third-degree assault, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and unsafe start.
According to deputies, Olmstead was driving away from a residence at 122 Cassidy Rd., Russell, when he accelerated by quickly spinning his tires, causing him to run over the foot and ankle of Quentin A. Wright, 29, 343 Plains Rd., Canton, knocking Wright to the ground. Russell then left the scene.
Wright was treated at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for a broken leg.
Olmstead was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and held on $500 cash or $1,000 bail bond to reappear in court at a later date.
