MACOMB -- $50,000 in state funds is on its way to help the town of Macomb cover upgrades at the town garage.
According to officials, capital funding secured by state Sen. Patty Senator Ritchie (R-Heuvelton) will be used to purchase a new furnace and to install insulation.
Ritchie represents the western half of St. Lawrence County including Ogdensburg, Canton and Gouverneur.
“The town of Macomb uses its garage on a daily basis for everything from meetings to community events,” said Ritchie.
“Our town garage has been in need of major upgrades for quite some time,” said Town Supervisor George Blatchley. “We can’t thank Senator Ritchie enough for providing us with this funding, which will help us make much-needed repairs without placing an additional burden on our taxpayers.”
According to town officials, the municipality has been working recently to make the town barn more efficient. This funding will allow the town to continue that work and make additional upgrades, the announcement from Sen. Ritchie’s office said.
