LOUISVILLE -- A Louisville man is dead following a woodstove explosion at his home.
On March 3, troopers say they responded to a report of a fire at 121 County Route 41.
An investigation at the scene revealed that 68-year-old Daniel T. Leafe had attempted to start a fire in a woodstove and it exploded, with caused burns on more than 40 percent of his body, troopers said.
Troopers say they believe the flammable liquids Leafe was using to start a fire in the stove caused the explosion.
He was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital and from there was flown via Life Flight to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where on Thursday he died as a result of his injuries, troopers said.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation by St. Lawrence County fire investigators and New York State Police.
