MASSENA -- A longtime village cop and former DARE officer will retire from the force and be replaced by a new patrolman.
On Tuesday, the Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Chris Flynn, who Chief Adam Love said is a 20-year veteran.
"What a great officer he was. Twelve years as the DARE officer. He's reached so many lives, so many families doing his job and doing the time down there," Love told the board.
"He really was a good face for the department," Mayor Tim Currier said, who was Massena's police chief until his election in 2014.
He will be replaced by David M. Henrie, who is now a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department.
Love said he is a village resident who graduated from the Sullivan Law Enforcement Academy, Canton, in June 2017.
