MASSENA -- The Massena Town Council voted unanimously to accept tax collector Christine Jenkins’ retirement resignation and to pay her for accrued vacation time and longevity pay. She held the post for 20 years.
She will receive $2,267.53 for back vacation time and $750 for longevity pay.
“We wish her well,” Supervisor Joe Gray said.
The board also unanimously voted to appoint Taya Pryce as a new permanent receiver of taxes. She had been performing the job-part time She will be paid $20.50 per hour.
The board eliminated the part-time tax collector position through attrition.
“We believe the work in that office can be done by two part-time employees,” Gray said.
