Little River school in Canton graduates one senior and four juniors move on

CANTON -- Little River Community School, in Canton, NY, proudly announces the graduation of Tera Siegfried. A graduation ceremony was held at the school on May 11th with family, friends, and the school community in attendance.

Tera Siegfried, the daughter of Susan Powers and Will Siegfried of Potsdam, has attended Little River's four-room schoolhouse for the past thirteen years. She graduated with a GPA of 3.84

Ms. Siegfried attended The Clarkson School at Clarkson University for her senior year. She did an Emergency Medical Services internship at the college and enjoys canoeing. In the fall she will be attending Nazareth College in Rochester, majoring in Occupational Therapy, and has a keen interest in political science and gender studies. She was awarded the NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence.

Little River also celebrated a moving-on party for four juniors that will be taking their studies elsewhere next year. Galen Oey-Langen, Nicholas Bos-Ladd, and Clara Maine will be attending The Clarkson School for their senior year and Quinn Williams-Bergen will do her senior year in Germany with American Field Service.

Galen Oey-Langen, the son of Esther-Oey and Tom Langen of Canton has been with Little River since fourth grade. He has wide-ranging interests from medicine and anthropology to textile art and history and aspires to become a doctor or living historian. He took two classes at St. Lawrence University this year and is currently traveling in Guatemala.

Nicholas-Bos Ladd, the son of Maegan Bos and Brian Ladd of Canton has been with Little River for six years. He began taking math classes at St. Lawrence University in ninth grade and later took physics and economics, for a total of eight college classes. He is heading to Japan this summer for four weeks to learn the language and immerse himself in the culture.

Clara Maine, the daughter of Sandy and Louie Maine of Parishville came to Little River in eighth grade. She plans to apply to schools in the Netherlands to study artificial intelligence. She participated in the National String Project for the past ten years playing harp.

Quinn Williams-Bergen, the daughter of Jean and Eric Williams-Bergen, has been at Little River since kindergarten. She has taken three classes at St. Lawrence and currently works at NCPR with the North Country at Work project collecting stories from local communities. She will be living with a family and going to school in Germany for her senior year.

There were about fifty people at the celebration. The students and family members shared stories of school and childhood providing a beautiful send-off.
