CANTON -- During Colton’s winter festival Jan. 29-31, funds supporting the Neighborhood Center were raised through a silent auction at the Colton Methodist Church and the raffle of a barn quilt from the Tourism & Beautification Committee.

The winning raffle ticket purchased by Karen LaFave of Lisbon was drawn by Jerry Wilson, the town’s Citizen of the Year, during the town board’s March meeting.

Additional funds raised through craft fair vendor fees and a variety of donations supplemented the silent auction and raffle proceeds and helped cover other festival costs.

More than 40 organizations helped plan, host or financially support Winterfest activities.

They are recognized at http://www.townofcolton.com/winterfest.html. A slideshow presentation made during the festival honoring Jerry Wilson as the Citizen of the Year is available, along with photos taken by student photographer Grace Rousell and others of events throughout the weekend.

In September, the town’s Winterfest Planning Committee will begin working on next year’s festival scheduled for January 27-29, 2017. People and organizations wishing to be involved can contact Grace Hawley at 262-2439.
