LISBON -- Firefighters from Lisbon and seven other departments responded to a house fire that destroyed the home of Levi and Sarah Zufall at 1507 County Rte. 31 around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, according to St. Lawrence County Emergency Services.
Other departments on-scene included Louisville, Rensselaer Falls, Heuvelton, Morley, Madrid, Waddington and West Potsdam firefighters and Waddington Rescue. No one reported any injuries, according to Emergency Services.
The fire started because of a wood stove issue, Emergency services said.
Robert Ludlam of Potsdam, Mrs. Zufall’s father, said Levi and his family were able to save a some items but most were lost.
“Sarah was home alone when she discovered the fire at approximately 6:15 p.m. in the roof/attic area. She grabbed her cat and later her fish was also saved,” Ludlam said.
