LISBON -- For the past two years, Lights on the River has supported nine different food pantries with donations totaling over $16,000 in cash plus cases and cases of food, all received from the annual holiday light display held at Lisbon Beach.
This year, Lights on the River will continue to support the local food pantries.
This year's list of local food pantries that Lights on the River will help are: Canton Neighborhood Center, Canton Church & Community Program, Hammond Neighborhood Center, Heuvelton Food Pantry, Lisbon Food Pantry, Madrid's Christian Fellowship Center - Alms of Love Pantry, Ogdensburg Salvation Army, Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center and Waddington Neighborhood Center.
The third annual Lights on the River, sponsored in part by Ogdensburg Kiwanis, will take place from Saturday, Dec. 15 through Sunday, Dec. 23. It's a free drive through event that attracts thousands from Northern New York & Southeastern Ontario, as well as those visiting the area for the holidays.
Lights on the River, Inc. is a local 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to help local food pantries.
Lights on the River is currently looking for sponsors and displays to help make this year's event even bigger.
