LISBON -- Lights on the River is seeking applicants for its 2014 display.

The group is a local non-profit that raises money for St. Lawrence County food pantries.

There is no charge to enter a display and Lights on the River pays the electric bill.

The holiday tableaus are erected at Lisbon Beach and are lit nightly in December until Christmas from 5 to 9 p.m.

Those visiting the site are not charged, but can make donations of non-perishable food or cash to go to the food pantries.

This year, assistance will go to the Canton Church and Community Center, the Canton, Gouverneur, Massena, Ogdensburg, Potsdam and Hammond neighborhood centers, Norwood-Norfolk-Ramondville Outreach, Heuvelton, Lisbon and Richville food pantries and the Waddington Family and Resource Center.

The group says their traffic and donations have grown annually since the program's inception in 2010.

They say the Lisbon Food Pantry received $4,000 in donations in 2010, and that year about 2,000 vehicles drove through.

In 2011, $11,600 went to eight food pantries and about 3,000 vehicles drove through.

In 2012, $16,000 and upwards of 3,700 lbs. of food was donated to eight food pantries. About 4,000 vehicles and a hay wagon drove through.

In 2013, $18,000 and more than 2,700 lbs. of food went to 10 food pantries, along with 4,000 vehicles and the hay wagon visiting the display.
