LISBON -- Organizers of Lights on the River, going into its sixth year, say they are looking for people to sign up to make a display or give money toward this year’s cause.
The event collects donations of food and cash for a dozen area food pantries.
They include Canton Church and Community program, Canton, Gouverneur, Hammond, Ogdensburg, Massena and Potsdam neighborhood centers, Heuvelton, Lisbon and Richville food pantries, Norwood-Norfolk-Raymondville Outreach and Waddington Family and Resource Center.
Last year’s event raised $26,400 and 7,500 pounds of food.
Over the last five years, the event has garnered a total of $75,000 and more than 13,000 pounds of food.
It is free to make a display. Sponsorship is not required. Power is provided with each site. Site size is based on the total number of displays.
