Lightning and hail are possible in St. Lawrence County today as thunderstorms are expected to hit the area this afternoon

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across Northern New York with a few stronger storms expected to include frequent lightning, strong gusty winds, hail, and brief heavy rainfall causing isolated flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly between 2 and 4 p.m., NWS says. The high today is expected to be around 80 with southeast winds of 6 to 11 miles per hour.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this evening and overnight with hail, gusty winds and heavy rain possible, the service says. The overnight low will be around 64.

Things dry out a bit for the rest of the week with slight chances of rain on Wednesday night and Thursday, NWS says.

Highs will be in the mid-80s all week before cooling off slightly for the weekend, the service says.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

A 30 percent chance of showers after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday

A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Thursday Night

A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Light southwest wind.

Friday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Friday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
