At least 1,300 homes, businesses without power in more than a dozen locations throughout St. Lawrence County

Traffic on the Back Hannawa Road in Potsdam was rerouted onto the South Canton Road this afternoon as National Grid crews repaired power lines and restored electricity in that area.

 National Grid crews were kept busy throughout St. Lawrence County today as high winds knocked down tree limbs and power lines throughout the region.

A total of 1,349 electrical customers were reported without power shortly before 5 p.m.

In Norwood, a tree blew over amd downed power lines on Baldwin Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. and remained there until at least 4 p.m., according to a resident.

In Potsdam, traffic was rerouted off the Back Hannawa Road while National Grid crews repaired lines and restored power in that area.

Most of the outages were of relatively limited size, but more than a dozen locations were reported without electricity in all regions of the county.

The number of outages, location and expected time of power restoration:

• Brasher –112, 5:15 p.m.

• Canton – 149, 5 – 5:30 p.m.

• DeKalb, -- 27, still assessing condition

• DePeyster – 258, still assessing condition

• Heuvelton – 255, still assessing condition

• Lisbon – 47, 6 p.m.

• Macomb –161, still assessing conition

• Norfolk – 39, 5:45 p.m.

• Norwood – 40, 5:15 p.m.

• Oswegatchie – 61, 6:30 p.m.

• Piereppont – 28, 5:30 p.m.

• Potsdam – 134, 7:15 p.m.

• Waddington – 10, still assessing condition

Earlier in the day, high winds resulted in about 171 St. Lawrence County National Grid customers losing near Parishville Center, on the north side of Russell Turnpike Road and in the hamlet of Oswegatchie in the Town of Fine.
