John D. Butler was in the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driving through a field off of Desmond Road when the operator lost control of the vehicle and it rolled, according to state police.
Troopers responded to the scene at 1:23 a.m. Saturday.
Butler was partially ejected from the vehicle and became pinned underneath it. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Also in the truck were Alex M. Hanson, 21, of Potsdam, and Logan R. Decarr, 22 of Parishville.
Hanson and Decarr were treated at the scene for minor injuries, investigators said.
Butler’s body was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where an autopsy was performed by Dr. Samuel Livingstone.. Livingstone determined the cause of death to be exsanguination due to a laceration of the liver, and due to blunt force trauma.
St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood ruled the manner of death as accidental.
