POTSDAM -- Mrs. Robin Lalonde's first grade students at Lawrence Avenue Elementary School recently visited the Potsdam Animal Shelter to deliver gifts.
As an act of kindness, to go along with the character education theme for December, students chose to buy "gifts" for animals at the shelter instead of gifts for each other. The class delivered their donations, toured the shelter, played with several cats, saw many dogs, played with two ferrets and fed treats to a pot-belly pig.
Students learned about the shelter and how to care for animals.
