Some state lawmakers in Albany are threatening to boycott a hotel there that was recently acquired by the same company that is building the new hotel in Potsdam.

Visions Hotels of Corning, the development and management company that is building a new two-story Hampton Inn along Market Street in Potsdam, recently bought the State Street Hotel, less than two blocks from the state capitol, according to the Albany Times-Union.

A group of more than 30 lawmakers has threatened to boycott the hotel for allegedly failing to honor workers' union contracts, the newspaper story said.

The story says Visions said they decided to close the hotel's restaurant and bar to simplify its operations, putting it more in line with its other holdings in Central, Western and Northern New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, the Finger Lakes, and Watertown.

The article is on the newspaper's web site at http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Lawmakers-threaten-to-boycott-hotel-5312467.php.

The Hampton Inn in Potsdam being built now will not have a restaurant or bar. Builders hope to have it ready to open this July.
