SeaComm provided tree saplings, a facility and manpower to join local Kiwanis Club members in continuing a longstanding tradition celebrating Arbor Day.

This year 3,700 trees were bagged and delivered to second grade students in several schools throughout St. Lawrence County.

“SeaComm is excited to be a part of this program that has continued to deliver trees annually to our area schools since 1956.

Through this program children are able to take an active part in the importance of Arbor Day and become aware of the impact they will have by planting trees,” said Ron Smith, Massena Kiwanis Treasurer and SeaComm Vice President of Lending.

“It is both rewarding and exciting to see the enthusiasm of the children when they receive their tree and discuss planting and caring of this valuable resource that they can watch grow and take pride in for years to come.”

Arbor Day is a celebration of the new spring season and trees, so as the saplings were delivered the children were told how to plant and care for them to ensure their good health. A question and answer session was also held on how to maintain proper follow-up care beyond planting and continued maintenance to derive full benefits from the trees.
