Kesner, Fuentes lead St. Lawrence Central graduates in 2014

BRASHER FALLS -- The St. Lawrence Central Class of 2014 valedictorian is Jenna Kesner and salutatorian Shane Fuentes.

Kesner is the daughter of John and Elaine Kesner of Brasher Falls. She has participated in National Honor Society, Spanish Club and the Horizons Program at Clarkson University. She served as the captain for both the varsity soccer and basketball teams. She has also received the Section 10 academic and sportsmanship awards.

She dedicates time to her church, primarily within the youth group, children’s church and vacation Bible school. She participated in a mission trip to Gulu, Uganda in summer 2012. She will attend SUNY Potsdam this fall to pursue a degree in science or the medical field.

Fuentes is the son of Abel and Nereida Fuentes of Brasher Falls. He is president of the National Honor Society, a member of the SLC Whiz Quiz team and a member of the Spanish Club. He participates on the varsity basketball team and has been named to the Academic All-Northern team four times.

He volunteers his free time to numerous programs including Project Plush, Brasher Falls youth sports and the Special Olympics. He has received accolades from St. Lawrence University, Nazareth College and Canisius College. He also received the Augsbury/North Country Scholarship. He will be attending college this fall to study pre-medicine.
