American Kang Duk Won Karate members from various St. Lawrence County communities recently participated in two martial art training events.
Last month competitors attended the 40th Annual International American Kang Duk Won Karate Championships at Jefferson Community College. Competitors from classes in Canton, Gouverneur, Ogdensburg, Madrid, Heuvelton, Norwood, and Malone took part in this year's annual event.
Recently, students from St. Lawrence County gathered to test for higher belt ranks. Youth and adults were evaluated at the Gouverneur East Side School gymnasium on their knowledge of formal exercises, sparring, self-defense, and martial arts history. Black Belt instructors on hand for the evaluations included Master Robert Lawlor and Master Frank Palumbo, Jennifer Palumbo, John Rupp, Eli Rupp, Andrew Ellis, Michael Jackson, and Sherri Wilson.
Summer memberships in American Kang Duk Won Karate are now being taken. Participants may attend any of the St. Lawrence County classes held during the week. Trial classes are available.
