CANTON – A Canton man with dementia was found in an overgrown field after having been missing for about nine hours overnight, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said that around 6 p.m. Tuesday they responded to the Cowan Road to investigate the report of a missing person.
William E. Meenan, 74, left a residence he was visiting on the Cowan Road and was unable to be located.
About nine hours later a U.S. Border Patrol K9 unit found Meenan in a field about 200 yards from the residence on Cowan Road.
He was transported by Canton Rescue to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and treated for exposure.
Deputies were assisted by Border Patrol, Canton Police Department, forest rangers and St. Lawrence County Emergency Services.
