POTSDAM -- The K-Kids and Key Club have been busy with a variety of drives and community service project, organizers say.

The Lawrence Avenue K-Kids just finished a food drive on March 27 and delivered the food to the Potsdam Neighborhood Center and Helping Hands.

Organizers say the food drive was such successes that they will hold another food drive at the end of June for the Potsdam Neighborhood Center as the PNC supports several families over the summer with additional food as kids are at home for an extra meal instead of in school.

The K-kids will also hold a bottle drive this spring and will be collecting used and unneeded eyeglasses for people who are in need but can't afford them. They will also make frayed knots and healing stones for Hospice.

The Potsdam Key Club is very busy as well. They held their Easter egg hunt on March 29. Key Club members just returned from a leadership training convention and elected new officers to begin serving April 1.

The Key Club will be participating in the SUNY Potsdam Relay for Life on April 5-6 and holding their own stay-a-wake-a-thon on April 19 at the high school.

In addition, they have visited Mayfield Apartments to play bingo with the residents. Finally, Key Club members are planning the annual talent show for June.

Both groups will be helping the Potsdam Kiwanis Club with their Spaghetti Supper on April 10, 5-7 p.m. at the Potsdam High School cafeteria.

Proceeds raised from the supper will support these youth groups, and the clubs many community children’s projects.
