POTSDAM -- The Lawrence Avenue Elementary School K-Kids recently prepared flowers to present to the secretaries at the Elementary School.
The K-Kids presented a flower and card to the secretaries at the main office, BOCES office and work room. The K-Kids ended up planting 16 flower bulbs for the secretaries to share.
The Kids started bulbs in small plastic cups and when the flowers bloomed, the recipient could re-plant them to a garden, flower bed, or a larger flower pot.
For the remaining few weeks of school, the K-Kids will be working on Hospice donations, Potsdam Animal Shelter donation, gifts for mom and dad for their days in May and June, a tour of downtown Potsdam in appreciation of Emergency Services Appreciation week, election and installation of officers and Cubley Park Clean Up.
They have donated money to several organizations, made items for Hospice and the animal shelter, collected food for Potsdam Neighborhood Center and the Thanksgiving baskets.
The Lawrence Avenue K-Kids meet on Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. in the small cafeteria. If your student is interested in joining a service organization like the LAE K-Kids, they can visit a meeting.
