Job Club in Potsdam to provide support for job seekers

POTSDAM -- Job Club will be starting in the public Computer Center at Potsdam Library on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 9.30 to 11 a.m. Subsequent meetings will be held at the same time each Wednesday as long as interest lasts.

The purpose of a Job Club is to bring together people of all ages who are seeking to find new or better employment. In the present economic climate this can be a frustrating process, and the first goal of the club will be to provide members with a mutual support system. By interacting, members will also be able to exchange their job-seeking experiences and perhaps avoid pitfalls made by other members.

The hope is that, once formed, the group will be self- directing and pursue its own specific interests. A library representative will speak at the first meeting, outlining ways in which library resources may be useful to them in pursuing their job searches. It is hoped that members will make use of these library resources.

Coffee and donuts will be offered at the first meeting. There is no membership fee of any kind nor is there any fee for the use of the library’s resources or equipment. Early registration would be appreciated but is not essential.

For registration or more information, call 265-7230 and ask for Rene or Bob, or email raustin@potsdamlibrary.org or rwatkin@potsdamlibrary.org.
