CANTON -- The third annual Jesse D. McCarthy Bike-Run took place recently in Canton.

Runners and bikers left the Canton VFW headed to Hermon, Russell, Edwards and Degrasse, ending at 5 Griffin Road, Canton, Jesse’s field.

There was food and the Max Ryder Band played.

McCarthy’s family is very thankful that the ride was so successful this year.

All profits went to the Jesse D. McCarthy Music Scholarship Fund, which was started three years ago in memory of McCarthy, who died in a car accident Sept. 17, 2009.

The scholarship is dedicated to helping aspiring music students in St. Lawrence County continue their musical interests.

The recipients of the scholarship this year are Logan Barkley, who chose singing lessons, and Derek Stewart, who is continuing his guitar playing.
