OGDENSBURG — The death of a patient at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center is still under investigation by Ogdensburg police and no new information was available Monday, Jan. 1 regarding the incident.
Police said Monday that they were not yet ready to release the name of the victim. Names would not be released until the victim's family had been notified said police.
An earlier press release from the Ogdensburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit said the death occurred several hours after an altercation between two patients at the center at 1 Chimney Point Drive.
Police opened the investigation early Sunday, Dec. 31, at 3 a.m.
Police said it is unknown if the death can be attributed to the physical altercation.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, and the investigation is continuing, said police.
