Internet service for many Slic Network subscribers was interupted for several hours late this afternoon and early this evening throughout parts of St. Lawrence County.
St. Lawrence County offices, the Potsdam Village Police and Clarkson University were among a number of businesses and organizations reporting an inability to access websites on the internet.
The websites of NorthCountryNow.com, Clarkson, SeaComm Federal Credit Union were among the sites that were unaccessible by those who who still had internet service because they are served by other carriers. The sites were inaccessible either because Slic hosts them or provides internet access to the sites.
Shortly before 5 p.m., a representative of Nicholville-based Slic Network Solutions confirmed they were having problems and indicated the problem involved a circuit outside their network.
Time-Warner subscribers in Potsdam and Massena reported they did not have outages.
