International iPad reporting stations on St. Lawrence river may be shut down due to high water

Posted

Due to unusually high water levels and debris in St. Lawrence River, some of the twenty Reporting Offsite Arrival – Mobile (ROAM) iPad stations may not be accessible to the boating public.

This includes stations in Waddington, Ogdensburg, Morristown and others outside of St. Lawrence County.

To ensure the safety of the recreational boating community, there is a mobile application that boaters may use to report their arrival.

On U.S./Canadian waterways, both the master of a vessel and any passengers must report their arrival in U.S. waters to U.S. Customs and Border Protection upon returning from Canadian soil or if they came in contact with a foreign vessel.

Boaters may download the free CBP ROAM app from the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store onto their smart phone or mobile device. To use the CBP ROAM app boaters will need to establish a Login.gov account, for which the CBP ROAM app provides a link.

Trusted traveler card holders (i.e., NEXUS, Global Entry, FAST, I-68) may use the CBP ROAM application to check in or they may use the 1-800-827-2851. Contact the nearest U.S. port of entry or visit http://www.cbp.gov for information on how to obtain an I-68 landing permit or trusted traveler document.

If boaters can’t report to an iPad location because of elevated water conditions or debris is present in the water, boaters may then report their arrival by phone to 1-800-827-2851.

To facilitate this reporting, please have ready the following information:

Name, Date of Birth, and Citizenship of the master and all passengers

Name of the vessel and State/Province-issued registration number

Home Port and Current Location

*If vessel is 30 feet or longer, U.S. Decal number
