Inside NCNow: For the first time, more than 1 million viewers in past 31 days; our top ten stories

NorthCountryNow.com reached a milestone this week, for the first time recording more than one million visits in the previous 31 days, according to Google Analytics.

A total of 1,016,381 visits were recorded by the website traffic measuring service from Jan. 15 through Feb. 14.

A total of 2.8 million page views were reported during that same time period, which means the average viewer looks at about 2.8 pages at each visit. NorthCountryNow.com also received a total of 174,151 unique visitors – or visits from different computers – during the same time period.

Currently there is wide discrepancy between results provided by various website traffic measurement services, and the issue is of concern to all parties in the industry.

Quantcast.com, which like Google Analytics directly records website traffic through special code placed on websites, provides very similar results for total page views – 2.7 million in the past month. But Quantcast reports 585,299 visits and 93,654 unique visitors in the past month.

The Quantcast and Google Analytics results are quite different. But either way the results are impressive – especially since NorthCountryNow.com serves St. Lawrence County, with a population of only 111,000, many who still don’t have broadband internet access.
