OGDENSBURG — An inmate has been charged with possessing two metal cutting weapons at an Ogdensburg prison.
Charles Sleet, 34, was charged with first-degree possession of dangerous prison contraband, felony, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use.
Troopers say Sleet’s arrest was not related to the homicide at Riverview Correctional Facility.
During a search of his person, Sleet was found in possession of two metal cutting weapons, which he was attempting to conceal inside his mouth during the search, according to state police.
He was charged at 8:17 a.m. at the police station, 410 Cedar St.
His status was listed as held as he remains in the custody of the correctional facility.
