Increased noise expected in Gouverneur, Fowler and Cranberry Lake as Air Force's 107th Fighter Squadron runs training

St. Lawrence County residents in Gouverneur, Fowler and Cranberry Lake should expect higher than normal volumes of aircraft activity as military maneuvers are underway through Thursday.

Beginning Sept. 13 and through Sept. 15, there will be higher than normal levels of training noise coming from Range 48 in the vicinity of Antwerp, Fowler, Gouverneur, Lowville, Tupper Lake, and Cranberry Lake.

The anticipated noise should not be a cause for alarm, the military’s press release said.

Fort Drum Range 48 and the surrounding Military Operating Airspace will be used by fighter aircraft from the Air Force's 107th Fighter Squadron from Selfridge, Mich and the 158th Fighter Wing from Burlington, Vt. for training during the afternoon and evening hours. The training is in preparation for future missions.

Anyone with noise concerns should call the New York State Airspace Hotline at 1-800-228-3567.
