POTSDAM -- Iditarod veteran and owner of Call of the Wild Kennels, 3019 State Highway 56 in South Colton, Spencer Thew, recently gave a presentation for Potsdam Central School students.

Students in ninth grade grade English classes attended Thew’s presentation which focused on goal setting, dog sledding and the Iditarod, which ties in with the English unit the students are currently working on.

Thew has raised Siberian huskies for years and is actively involved in dog sled racing. He brought in one of his dogs, Davey Crockett, a sled, and race clothing and equipment.

The students enjoyed the presentation in which they learned firsthand information from one of the 600 Iditarod veterans, according to an email from the school.
