How hot was it this afternoon?

That depends on what thermometer you believe.

Among the hottest was 98 degrees displayed by the time/temperature sign at Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware, Outer West Main Street in Canton, observed by Jim Blair as he was delivering copies of North Country This Week.

Blair saw 96 degrees displayed as the temperature at the rotating sign board in front of Eben’s Hearth, 115 Maple St., in Potsdam. The temperature was reported as 94 degrees in front of North Country Savings Bank, Main Street, Potsdam.

And the temperature reported in front of Tractor Supply, NYS Hwy. 11, Potsdam, was 92 degrees.

At 3:30 p.m., WeatherUnderground.com reported 93 degrees on the Regan Road in Potsdam. Weather.com said the temperature was 90 degrees.
