Several days of unseasonably warm weather seem to have slowed down the color progression and may be causing some leaves to drop, according to ILOVENY.com

However, a cold front is sweeping across the region and that will usher in much cooler air into the weekend, according to The Foliage Network. "This upcoming fall-like weather should really get things going," the website says.

Colorful peak and near peak fall foliage will be found in the Adirondacks and Catskills regions this weekend, but remain in earlier stages in St. Lawrence County.
