Hopkinton, Canton companies join Children's Museum Founders Circle

Two local companies, NuMed of Hopkinton and Frazer Computing of Canton, have joined the North Country Children's Museum Founder's Circle.

Founder's Circle Members are companies, foundations, and individuals that donate $1,000 or more to help establish the museum.

The North Country Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization formed in 2012 by a group of educators with a collective vision to create a cultural and educational center for North Country families.

“Driven by a mission to bring hands-on learning to the community, NCCM developed a Museums Without Walls program and travels weekly to the Clarkson University Bookstore during the school year and to festivals throughout the region during the summer,” a news release from the museum says.

These pop-up workshops offer interactive programs for children 12 and under and their families in a wide range of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) topics.

“In creating engaging, fun, and memorable educational experiences, NCCM provides space for children to try on the role of scientist, engineer and artist. NCCM’s commitment to hands-on, minds-on learning will be reflected in our new space in the Red Barn at 10 Raymond Street in historic Potsdam, NY, which is currently under construction and will open in March 2018,” the release says. “The museum’s permanent exhibits will celebrate the cultural and geographic resources of the North Country and provide opportunities for children and their families to play and learn together.”

NuMed and Frazer Computing, along with all Founder Circle Members will be honored with their name on the donor wall in the museum entryway.

"Frazer Computing is excited to now be counted among the contributors to the Children's Museum. This is just another great example of what makes the north country such a wonderful place to raise a family,” Frazer Computing president Mike Frazer said in a news release from the museum.

Since 2012, the museum has raised $960,000 towards the project with $40,000 remaining in the capital campaign.
