CANTON -- St. Lawrence County is set to receive more than $150,000 from the Department of Homeland Security.
St. Lawrence County’s operations committee recommended legislators accept $162,596 grant from DHS Monday.
The grant will be awarded to the county’s emergency services department to provide funds for equipment to enhance communications between various law enforcement agencies.
According to the resolution the grant will help St. Lawrence County's purchase and install equipment for the 911 Dispatch Center.
The funding can be rolled over to future budgets until the equipment is purchased.
Although the committee approved the measure it must still be accepted by the full board of legislators.
The full board is expected to meet in Dec. 1.
