Holiday concert, organ recital, Shakespeare part of CPS season

POTSDAM – Several special events will take place as part of the Community Performance Series 2010-11 season, including the 11th annual Ranlett Organ Recital, featuring Scott Dettra from Washington's National Cathedral; a holiday concert combining the talent of the American Boychoir with ONNY under the music direction of Kenneth Andrews, and two Shakespeare plays by The Acting Company.

2010-11 CPS Special Events:

• 11th Annual L. Felix and Helen Miller Ranlett Organ Recital, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. in Hosmer Hall: Scott Dettra is the prize-winning Organist and Associate Director of Music at Washington National Cathedral.

• The American Boychoir with The Orchestra of Northern New York, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall: The American Boychoir dazzles audiences with its unique blend of musical sophistication, effervescent spirit and ensemble virtuosity.

• The Acting Company presents “Romeo and Juliet,” Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Snell Theater: The Acting Company has garnered critical acclaim on a national scale through 37 seasons and 133 productions of great classics, together with the best of contemporary theater and several world premieres. It will present two adapted plays by William Shakespeare.

• The Acting Company presents “A Comedy of Errors,” Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Snell Theater: See for yourself what makes The Acting Company the most respected and praised touring repertory theater in the country.

Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through the CPS Box Office, located in Snell Hall on the SUNY Potsdam campus, by calling 267-2277, or visiting www.cpspotsdam.org. Individual event tickets will be available for purchase beginning Aug. 23.
