HOGANSBURG -- A Hogansburg fire captain is accused of staling nearly $6,000 from his own fire department.
Ryan J. McDonald, 24, of Hogansburg, was arrested for stealing $5,985.31 from the Hogansburg Fire Department by cashing checks made out to himself and forging the signatures of other members. McDonald had access to the department’s checking account for the purpose of taking care of miscellaneous expenses within the department.
McDonald was charged with second-degree forgery and third-degree grand larceny, both are felonies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Fort Covington Court and was released under the supervision of probation. McDonald is scheduled to reappear at the Town of Bombay Court on Feb.18, 2014 at 6 p.m.
