COLTON -- Higley Flow State Park will be open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings during the months of January and February.
The new Higley Trails Lodge will open as well from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A volunteer of the Friends group will be on hand to answer questions from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Patrons taking advantage of this opportunity are required to exit the parking lot by 8 p.m., as one responsibility of the volunteer is to insure that everyone has safely exited.
The Evenings at Higley program was so successful last year, that it was decided to expand from one night a week to two.
Although the recent snows did not impact the Colton area as much as areas to the west and north, ski conditions at the Park are very good with track-set groomed trails on over 10 miles of trails. The Park road and camp loops are also groomed for skate skiing as well as track-set for classic.
Normal hours for the Park are 8 a.m. until 5:00 PM daily, with the new Higley Trails Lodge open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. On weekends, the Park and Lodge are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m..
As ski and hiking conditions are subject to change, people are encouraged to check the Friends of Higley Flow State Park website, higleyfriends.org, for up to date ski conditions or cancelations due to weather. For more information, contact Tom French at 265-1351.
