Very hot weather is coming, just not today, as had been forecast.
With rain moving through the area, temperatures will not get as high today as had been predicted.
The chance of rain is diminishing as the rain moves east out of the St. Lawrence Valley.
The National Weather Service predicts above normal temperatures to develop over the area Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the mid 80s to mid 90s, and it will feel hotter as humidity will also increase.
A cold front will move across the area Thursday night with showers and thunderstorms possible, followed by a return to more seasonal conditions.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind between 6 and 8 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind between 7 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 75. Southwest wind between 5 and 9 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 92. West wind between 7 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
