Heuvelton Central School to recognize senior honor students and class president at graduation ceremonies

HEUVELTON -- Heuvelton Central School will recognize the following senior honors students and class president at its graduation ceremonies.

Johanna Carmany, the daughter of Keith and Karen Carmany, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Whiz Quiz team and ENCORE. She is a dancer and has also earned varsity letters in lacrosse, basketball and soccer. She recently appeared on the WWNY Academic All-Star program, and she was one of Heuvelton Central’s student guests at the St. Lawrence School Board’s Honors Dinner. She is the recipient of the Claxton-Hepburn Auxiliary Scholarship, the Canton Goldennaire’s Scholarship and the Brown–Baltradis Memorial Scholarship. She plans to study pre-medicine next year at Claremont-McKenna College in California.

Scarlett Cameron, daughter of Scott and Rhonda Cameron of Heuvelton, has been involved with the National Honor Society, the French Club and Student Council. She has participated in Clarkson University’s IMPETUS program and was a top achiever at the PI MU Math competition. Carmany was recently honored by the St. Lawrence County School Board Association at their annual dinner and received a scholarship from the Ogdensburg Zonta Club. She plans on attending the Albany College of Pharmacy.

Reilly Pierce, the son of Calvin and Carolyn Pierce of Heuvelton, has been involved in athletics and earned varsity letters in basketball and soccer. He has been on numerous scholar-athlete teams and Academic All-Northern Teams. Pierce is also a National Honor Society member, Spanish Club member, Student Council representative and has participated in the Rocket Club, Whiz Quiz, Jazz Band, 4H and his parish church. He received a New York State Academic Excellence Scholarship. Next year, he will attend Cornell University to study agricultural science.

Alexis Michael, the daughter of Roger and Polly Michael of Heuvelton, has been a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Whiz Quiz, Mock Trial, ENCORE, the Girl Scouts and the Rocket Club. She has also served as class vice president, senior band president and is a teen representative to her church. Michael received the Ogdensburg Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship, the NYS Amvets Service Scholarship and the NYSUT Scholarship. She will attend SUNY Potsdam to major in anthropology.

Madelyn St. Pierre is class president.
